YAMAHA MT-01
At Yamaha, creating unique, awe-inspiring machines with rich characters is our specialty. The MT-01 is a classic example. This model is not built in the pursuit of rpm, kph or bhp, but to offer the sensation of low down torque combined with superb handling.
As such, MT-01’s mature performance is the next step in sport motorcycle development. If there’s one element that dominates the perception of the MT-01, it’s the engine... the Kodo. Like the beat of a Japanese big drum, Kodo is a vibration of the soul, a therapeutic pulse, an immutable and irresistible force that propels you, whether through life or up a twisty mountain road. With a precise, rigid chassis and aggressive steering geometry, MT-01 is one motorcycle that can talk the torque and walk the walk.
Key to the MT-01’s stunning visual signature is its maximum-engine, minimum-body design. Like a running suit on an Olympic sprinter, the chassis and bodywork hug the engine so tightly they are almost invisible. Like you’re strapped across the back of an engine – and nothing more.
Six pot radial brake calipers squeeze twin 310mm front discs for supersport level front end performance.
Minimalist controlled fill aluminium die-casting technology provides the structure for an extremely strong yet lightweight chassis with ideal rigidity balance characteristics. And together with superbikespec suspension and brakes, it provides a sensually accelerating experience.
Taut handling, engine performance and visual character. Seductive bodywork engineered to fit your body like a glove.
MT-01’s exhaust system sports titanium mufflers and EXUP power valve system for light weight and rumbling V-twin sound.

YAMAHA V-MAX
Ever thought how hard it would be to make a sequel to a legend? Your design would have to reiterate the original mission statement, then forge a bold and captivating new personality (while still respecting certain styling expectations the market will have). You’d have to eclipse all previous parameters of performance, and finally, get these goals to crystallise into a single design so expertly as to create a motorcycle the likes of which the world has never seen – like the 200ps, 166 Nm Intelligent Monster you see here. A musclebike of immense presence and value, with awesome acceleration and incredible control, VMAX will provide a select few riders with sensations and emotions that others can merely dream about.

YMAHA FZ1-N
When someone says a bike is practical, what do most riders instantly think? Boring? Well, here’s a challenge for the cynics; take this practical motorcycle, spend a moment looking and feeling over its lines and angles, then take it for a blast… and see if it doesn’t get the adrenalin pumping. The thinking man’s R1, the FZ1 is one of those rare and very special motorcycles that combine stunning performance with real world usability (that P-word).
Available in a faired (FZ1S) or naked (FZ1N) guise, its formidable powerplant is a torque-tuned version of the legendary R1 supersports engine, in a superb sports touring package of suspension, ergonomics and geometry. FZ1… practical plus.
With its gravity cast aluminium main frame and exposed R1-derived engine, the FZ1 is an intriguing sculpture in metal that suggests a sophisticated character… with just a hint of brute force.
The fracture-split big-ends of the FZ1’s carburised connecting rods create mirror image edge surfaces, allowing them to mate closer together for outstanding strength. The result is a quick-revving engine with excellent high-rpm durability.
The compact dimensions of the R1-derived engine have provided Yamaha’s engineers a superb platform around which to build an equally neat and compact masterpiece of road going excellence, with optimal front wheel weight bias and mass centralisation.
Independently damped fork and twin 320mm front discs squeezed by monobloc four-piston calipers provide supersport level front end performance.

YAMAHA FZ1-S
Your first decent ride on an FZ1 should be enough to convince you that in an era of great motorcycles, this is a special motorcycle. Sure, having an engine derived from the most famous litre Supersport of the modern era was a heck of a start, but it’s what Yamaha’s engineers have done with that platform that makes the FZ1 a jewel among sportbike designs.
Torque-tuned specifically for the road, the FZ1 engine is mated to a light and rigid aluminium frame, sculpted with the perfect quotients of torsional, lateral and vertical stiffness.
The outcome is pure class. Engine response… with forgiveness. Chassis agility… with stability.
Available in your choice of faired (FZ1S) or naked (FZ1N) guise, that’s what makes the FZ1 fit …like a glove.
Cutting edge fuel injection system with computer-controlled sub-throttle valves provides precise fuel/air mixture for superb power delivery across the entire rev range.
Closed-deck cylinder block provides great strength while allowing a narrow engine in spite of big, 77mm bores.
Narrow-angle five-valve combustion chambers produce a highly efficient 11.5:1 compression ratio, while big valves and highlift cams flow plenty of air.
Carburised connecting rods with fracture split big ends produce a quick-revving engine with excellent high-rpm durability.
High silicon-content ceramic-composite cylinder sleeves ensure great heat dissipation for consistent power delivery and reduced friction.
Light, R1-spec five-spoke wheels and fat radial tyres, including a 190/50-ZR17 rear, complete the look and serve up the traction.

YAMAHA TDM900
If you really want to get a feel for individual character and the level of owner satisfaction and model loyalty a TDM engenders – ask a TDM rider. You may well hear that the TDM is the smart choice for real world, down under roads... that it’s every motorcycle you’ll ever need wrapped up in one. Aggressive mountain road mauler, long-legged two-up tourer or powerful city commuter, it’s up to you… and your TDM900.
Fuel injected parallel-twin engine features a proven 5-valve head atop plated alloy cylinders, with bottom-end grunt, a stomping mid-range and punchy top-end.
The TDM900’s heart beats with a distinctive 270-degree crank configuration. It’s the reason many liken the TDM’s character to a V-twin.
A strong, lightweight alloy frame harnesses those adrenalising top-end ponies.
A 20-litre fuel tank ensures excellent range from the TDM’s economical DOHC engine.
Long-travel suspension and an almost 50% front end weight distribution combine for sharp steering and handling performance.
Progress of TDM’s meaty power spread is easy to monitor with a large, easy-to-read tacho
Relaxed, semi upright ergonomics mean better vision in traffic, and in conjunction with a plush seat provide all-day riding comfort.
Yamaha’s potent opposed-piston one-piece caliper front brake provides excellent braking power and modulation.
A slick-shifting six-speed transmission provides maximum flexibility from the TDM’s meaty power band, and contributes to its mastery of the mountain back road.
The lightweight all-alloy chassis uses high-spec suspension and brake components, for sporty handling characteristics that will surprise you – and those you ride with.
Scintillating braking feel and performance comes courtesy of Supersport-derived double disc brakes.

YAMAHA FZ-8N
These dynamic new sports machines are built on a new 779cc engine and all-aluminium frame. The engine offers a balance of middleweight accessibility with big-bore power and instant grunt throughout the rev range. FZ8 steers fast and effortlessly, and handles with surefooted confidence - whether it’s cranked right over on a tight, smooth corner or slicing its way through traffic on a congested commute.
The naked FZ8 is a machine with attitude. Muscular, aggressive design gives onlookers a hint of this bike’s serious intentions. Sitting between the entry level XJ6 series and big bore FZ1s, the FZ8 is a pure expression of performance and quality craftsmanship desinged for riders who appreciate an optimum blend of power, weight and size.
The new FZ8-series engine is fuel injected, and uses both a throttle valve and an electronically controlled subthrottle valve to provide additional control over intake airflow volume. The cylinder bodies have a bore and stroke from 68.0x53.6mm. Readings on engine rpm and throttle opening are processed in real time by the ECU, which operates a new stepping motor to control the sub-throttle valves and optimise volumetric efficiency in each part of the rev range.
It easily clears EU3 exhaust emission standards, using a short, side mounted muffler and a 4-into-2-into-1 exhaust system with a honeycomb type catalytic converter fitted at the point where the header pipes meet. An oxygen sensor feeds real-time exhaust information back to the ECU, allowing the bike to constantly adjust its air/fuel mixture for optimum efficiency and clean emissions.
Front-end suspension is a pair of upside-down forks, running 43mm inner tubes. Rear suspension is handled by a linked Monocross unit – the link being designed to provide soft, light suspension near the top of the stroke to deal with bumpy surfaces in comfort, but then to provide firmer cushioning as the shock is further compressed, for sharper handling during hard cornering.
Front brakes are twin four-piston monobloc calipers, gripping 310mm floating front discs. Being monobloc designs, the calipers suffer minimal distortion under hard braking, so the stopping force is linear, stable and controllable when the chips are down.

YAMAHA FZ-8S
The FZ8-series is based on the idea of a high-performance all-rounder with the power and character to make every ride an exhilarating sports ride.
These dynamic new sports machines are built on a new 779cc engine and all-aluminium frame.
